Read the whole story here.

This sounds almost like the scam the self-publishers pull, doesn't it? You know, the vanity presses? Except this sounds at the beginning like a reasonable small publishing house, where a lot of pros are going nowadays. You have to wonder what's in it for them. First Rule is 'follow the wallet' -- how is this profiting them in any way?

What a weird thing to do... "no we'd rather lose money, thank you" ?

She should send them lawyers (of is GriefCom exactly that? can you ignore a suit?!?)

No, GriefCom is more like collective bargaining - they're a problem-solving part of the SFWA [I expect to be corrected/clarified at any point here. ;) ]

There seems to be a spirit common among most publishers that makes NO damn sense.
